Just Kiss Already Blogfest

Happy Valentines Day!!

The hubs and I aren't Valentines Day people. We have tried, but it's just a day to do what you should be doing all year long--loving one another. BUT I do really enjoy the candies and the pretty red stuffs. So we usually just have a nicer than usual dinner. I asked for those chalky cheap hearts with the words on them this year too. I love those things.

And I couldn't NOT want to participate in Stina Lindenblatt and Christina Lee's Just Kiss Already Blogfest!! It was just too sweet to pass up! All you have to do is post a 250 word excerpt from your work or a book with actual kissing involved. Easy-peasy!

Hop around to check out everyone else.

"Now, finally, he has found her, and he has found his children, and there is no rush, for they have all eternity to love one another.

And she is kissing him and he is kissing her and the tears she has held back for five years, the tears that I knew could transform the moment, the tears that had to be saved for the right moment to transform, now come streaming down and drop on the face of the man whose head is cradled in the woman's arms. Zel's tears fall in Konrad's eyes, hot and salty and full of life. He blinks them in, absorbs them; they are now his own tears, and yes, he can see.

And they see each other, and yes, oh, yes, we are happy. "~Zel by Donna Jo Napoli

I could read that story a million times and still read it again, loving it's magic like it were the first. Swooooon. I HIGHLY suggest it.

What do you have planned for today? Do you have a go to book that you could read over and over and never not love every second of it?

I hope you all have a great day!! Happy Monday!!

  4. Wow, you're the first person I've seen who chose to use an actual snippet from a published author's work. I wish I had done that. It would have been way easier than editing down my scene so it fit into 250 words! lol

  5. That made my heart melt. We don't do anything special on V-day, because we celebrate on the 13th which is when we started dating.

  12. This is such a sweet excerpt! There's something really romantic about tears.

Me and hubs have toned it down this year. He got me the stuffed animal version of the Monster Book of Monsters, which I saw on somebody's blog. hehe. We aren't going out or anything because it's too crazy tonight.

  21. Do you mean Sweet Tarts? If so, I had way too many over the weekend. I can't not eat something if it's front of me.

What a fun blogfest! Totally enjoyed this excerpt.

  22. I wasn't aware of that blogfest.

I haven't written much about kissing. It's more like sucking, but could been adapted.

Too late now. I rather sign up next year >:)

  27. First, I love your new profile picture! Second, I forgot to tell you that I have consumed an entire bag of those chalky hearts in 24 hours. You would think I'd be sick of them, yes, my love? Um, no. I just opened a second bag. God. Help. Me. Or Uri. "Help." :-)

  33. My hubbie and I ususally don't do much for this Hallmark Holiday. I have a rule about no flowers on Valentines, but I
EXPECT at least one non-scheduled delivery each year. I just hate obligated love...

  34. Your new picture is super sexy! ;) Love it. Happy belated Valentines day, Colene.

  35. Great scene and happy Valentine's Day!

I wanted to post a scene from my book, but I didn't want to ruin it and, sadly, there are no kissing scenes in Jane Austen novels for me to post!

  36. I could read or watch "Pride and Prejudice" over and over again. "I love you, most ardently." Gets me every time. Sigh. Love the new pic. You look like a bad a**. Cool.

  37. Great excerpt. I've not heard of this book before :D Glad you posted it!

  39. I didn't do much for Valentine's Day except eat a lot of junk.

  40. Nice
I'm not a Vday kinda person either. But I like the chocolates :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh, that's beautiful, it just swept me up!

Husband and I don't do much about v-day either, but since we're in the US this year for the occasion, he thought he should join in, and got me a heart shaped box of chocolates that sings country and western love songs when you press a heart on the lid. I'm still a bit speechless that such things exist.
