Never Gets Old And Something For The Queriers

Awards!

Some sweet gals, Rhiann Wynn-Nolet and Krystal Marquis, were kind enough to pass on an award to me. They are very fun to know and their blogs are awesome! Check em out!

I was given the Lovely Blog Award couple years ago, but couldn't resist bragging thanking them! I don't play along well with awards anymore, but mostly because I'm out of "interesting" facts about myself. So, thanks to the wonderful ladies, and thanks for appreciating the blog!

I heard this song on the way home the other evening and was struck at how perfectly it fit. So, goes out to all you other queriers out there: (If you're like me and not a huge Buble fan, I'll post the lyrics below. ;)

"Haven't Met You Yet"

I'm not surprised, not everything lasts
I've broken my heart so many times I stopped keeping track
Talk myself in, I talk myself out
I get all worked up then I let myself down

I tried so very hard not to loose it
I came up with a million excuses
I thought, I thought of every possibility

And I know some day that it’ll all turn out
You'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And I promise you kid that I give so much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet

I might have to wait, I’ll never give up
I guess it's half timin and the other half's luck
Wherever you are, whenever it's right
You'll come outta nowhere and into my life

And I know that we can be so amazin
And baby your love is gonna change me
And now I can see every possibility

Somehow I know that it’ll all turn out
You'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And promise you kid I'll give so much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet

They say all’s fair in love and war
But I won’t need to fight it
We'll get it right and we'll be united

And I know that we can be so amazin
And bein in your life is gonna change me
And now I can see every single possibility

And someday I know it'll all turn out
And I'll work to work it out
Promise you kid I’ll give more than I get

Oh you know it'll all turn out
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And promise you kid to give so much more than I get yeah
I just haven't met you yet

I just haven't met you yet
Oh promise you kid to give so much more than I get
I said love love love love love love love
I just haven't met you yet

Hang in there, my query trench fellows, and don't be afraid those of you who aren't there yet. It's not so  bad. Kinda fun, actually, once you get over the disappointment part. But, it's totally true. Just takes one and must be the perfect one.

I'm being a WIP cheater. This weekend I had an idea I  couldn't ignore and put aside the 30,000+ of the WIP I was working on to start it. I have WIP ADD lately. Anyone else? What do you do when that happens, give in or put it back for later? How do you focus on one set of characters and story when another is screaming in your head?

Happy Tuesday, dudes!

  1. I only have one idea at a time, which I guess is a good thing.
That's right - just keep trying. You may be closer than you realize.

  2. I love that song. I never thought of it in terms of writing, though. Cool. =o)

Eh, be a cheater if the other story is pulling at you harder. It's sort of like gravity - you can't escape it. All you can do is go wherever the stronger pull is. (Which gives me a great idea for a blog post, btw. Thanks.)

  3. Gee, COLENE,

We are so in sync.... I am querying, like you .... Plus I am editing my first novel AS another wants to be written. So hard to push out the new when the old NEEDS to be finished.

Good luck and thanks for inspiration. The words are SO appropriate.

  4. I haven't really had that happen yet-one idea overtaking another. But I'm getting ready to hop into the trenches with you, starting tomorrow. Nervous. Excited. Hopeful. All at once. GREAT querying song, thanks for sharing it with us!

  5. I just climbed into the query trenches, so thanks! As for shiny new ideas, I usually try to jot down everything I thought of in a document, and get back to work on my current WIP. Or maybe just write enough to release the pressure a bit. But one of these days I may cheat and just go for it :)
