Easily Distracted

Firstly, my dear bloggy friend Alexia Chamberlynn tagged me in a Lucky 7 dealy (so awesome! Thank you!) which required posting 7 lines starting from the 7th line on the 77th page. But I looked . . . It's not a good one to use. It wont make sense and will just be confusing if you haven't been there for the rest. I thought of just faking it and doing something that I like but nope.

Instead I'll just offer it to anyone who wants to give it a try! Looked like fun! I wish I had a good one, but oh well. So if you all wanna check out your own MS and see where your 7th line on the 77th page puts you, go for it! And post the 7 lines if you want!

Secondly, my weekend was bitching and I hope yours was too! I love St. Patties day weekend! And a good friend dropped in from out of town for a short visit, got a couple more hours work put in to my tattoo, got super cute new running shoes and shorts, have a nice roast cooking in the crockpot AS I TYPE(Sunday), annnndddd had a nice day with just the hubs and me. So was very good. Hope you guys did too!!

THIRDLY, this coming weekend is THE HUNGER GAMES!! (just in case you've had your head jammed up . . . somewhere and didn't know. . .) Usually, I would so be there opening night, but I can't this weekend. But it wont be long. . . I'm so stupid excited to see it! The songs they've released from the soundtracks have been incredible so far, and the stills just as great. You guys psyched?

And Lastly, I got SO MUCH done last week on my book. If I am blessed enough to get as much done this week as last week (had an unusual amount of time on my hands), then I will be done with my last edits! I'm going back and forth on asking for beta readers and not. It's all very wishy-washy at this point. Not going to dwell on it now, though. Not there yet. Just excited to be almost done! Where is everyone else?

Happy Monday!

  2. I did the meme last week. It worked perfectly for one WIP but not the other. I wonder how many people have cheated on it. I can't do that. I was afraid the meme god would strike me down with lightning.

I'm away for the opening of The Hunger Games [insert sad face here], but my son and I are going to see it when we return the following weekend. We can't wait.

  3. So, so psyched for the Hunger Games! I can't make opening night, either, but hopefully sometime this weekend, my sister-in-law and I will see it. Good luck with your book! Sounds like you're so close!

  4. Hey, Colene,

Glad you had an awesome St. Pat's and weekend. CONGRATS on the final revision. I just finished my final too! YAY!

I am a bit anxious about this one. I have been fortunate so far. Two for two. Two queries and two full requests. The first one rejected, but it was a wonderful rejection. Yes, there are good rejections. LOL. I am still waiting on the second, but I should be sending out more queries, which I hope to do this week ... but I am nervous about it.

Keep happy .... I miss seeing you...

  5. Great that your weekend was so fabulous! Mine was, too--I am loving having a spring (normally it is still solidly winter in Michigan). And great job on your editing process! I definitely think betas are helpful, but I get what you are saying--I never pass off anything earlier than a 3rd draft.

And SQUEEEE on Hunger Games! Though we can't go until the 2nd weekend. This month is super tight on money, and I am taking both kids plus the snacks, so it will be a $50 affair... gotta wait for pay day.

  8. I'm so behind the curve. I just bought the Kindle version of the Hunger Games trilogy. And, I must say, the trailers I've seen of the movie look intriguing.

  10. Hey Colene,

Just an old follower who hasn't been around in a long time dropping in to say hello! Sounds like you're moving right along with you book!

Glad to hear you're doing well and your St. Patty's Day was a good one :D

    Best,

  16. Love st. patrick's day and am trying to talk the hubs into taking me to see the Hunger Games. It's actually one of those movies that's coming out in France at the same time as in the US. Congrats on your progress with your book! So exciting when you're entering the final stages of a first draft.

  17. I can hardly wait for Hunger Games!!! I have my tickets for Friday and I'm dragging my bestfriend who does not read YA (let's be honest, she doesn't read anything) and has not a clue about it. But Besties go anyway. I see every Marky Mark movie with her because she lurves him so...Hunger Games it is!

  23. This confession made me smile: But I looked . . . It's not a good one to use. It wont make sense and will just be confusing if you haven't been there for the rest.

I'll let you into a little secret I just randomly chose a page from one of my later chapters, as my chapters are in separate documents to avoid corruption and was releived to find it didn't reveal too much and stood alone as an excerpt. LOL!

Congrats on almost finshing your novel Yay!

  24. Sorry, I was out of town and didn't see this until now! Thanks for the shout out. I almost didn't post my 7 either, because it fell at a weird place, so I totally understand.

Stoked about Hunger Games! Seeing it this weekend.

  25. This post is making me feel like crawling into a little ball and moaning about all the writing I planned for this week that I DID NOT DO!
But instead I shall congratulate you on the work you got done on your book :-) And yes I am also SUPER excited to see The Hunger Games!
